Pandani Montessori Early Learning Food & Nutrition

Nutrition at Pandani Montessori

We believe that nutritious meals play a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our children. Our early learning centre is committed to providing wholesome and delicious meals that promote healthy eating habits and a positive relationship with food.

Our Approach

 - Inclusive practices - We involve the children in the preparation of meals, teaching them valuable skills and promoting a sense of community.

Holisitc education - Nutrition is part of our broader commitment to holistic education, which emphasises the interconnectedness of physical, emotional and intellectual wellbeing.

Sustainable practices - We are dedicated to reducing our impact on the earth through our "circle of life" approach, which aims to minimise waste and promote sustainable practices in our kitchen and learning environment.

Connections to the earth

Our gardens provide a unique opportunity for children to connect to the earth and learn about the importance of sustainable food systems. By providing a program whereby we grow some of our own food, children develop a deeper appreciation for the natural world and the role that food plays in our lives.

Our community relationship

We understand the value of strong relationships with local businesses and supporting them where we can. Our giving box allows us all to support our community by "giving what you can, taking what you need".

Healthy lifestyle

We believe that healthy eating habits are an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. Our programs and activities are designed to promote physical activity, emotional wellbeing and intellectual curiosity, setting our children up for a lifetime of health and happiness.

Our Chef's commitment

We are dedicated to:

  • Catering for allergies, lifestyle choices, cultural and religious needs as well as an understanding of fussy eaters.
  • A nutritious menu that provides Morning tea, afternoon tea and lunch. we also provide a light breakfast and late afternoon snacks.
  • Prioritising whole, seasonal ingredients and striving to reduce our environmental footprint.
  •  Introducing foods of the land including bush tucker and cultural connections to our menu.

Cultural celebrations and events

As part of our learning culture, we celebrate and include recognition of family cultures, religious cultures and diversity. We relish in celebrating events from around the world as well as significant times in children's lives. These can include birthdays, where we provide a cake for the child who is celebrating their walk around the sun.
